About Me

I have been cooking at home for 40 years. I do not cook the same way, or eat the same foods I did as a hungry, cash-strapped college student. Back then, I just wanted to feed myself. But I was always curious to see what else I could learn.

Lots of people I loved along the way cooked for me, and showed me the power cooking could have in my life. Finally, when my husband and I started our own family, I wanted to cook meals for them that looked good, tasted good, and kept them healthy and happy.

At the end of the day, that’s all any home cook really wants, isn’t it?

If you think it’s too late, or too hard, for you to learn to cook at home, think again. Don’t be intimidated by the “cooking bootcamp” mentality, or the pressure from social media to produce perfectly plated, restaurant quality food. Of course, with lots (and lots and lots) of practice, you may find you’re able to hit that mark, but you don’t start out aiming for that mark.

You start right where you are. Chances are pretty good, I’ve been where you are, and I can get you to where you want to be as a home cook.

What will you find here?

– Simple, quick, satisfying recipes that a beginning home cook can make
– More complex recipes for the more experienced home cook with a curious spirit
– Seasonal recipes I’ve developed over 15 years of eating the most local foods I can find

What won’t you find here?

JUDGEMENT.
Nope, I’m not here to tell you what you should eat, or what you shouldn’t eat. I just want you to COOK, so you can feed yourself, and those you love, the way you choose.

I’ll be your biggest cheerleader on your journey to cooking Closer to Home.
